Then we return to Trivandrum and your hotel.
Trivandrum – Kovalam
(Varkala Shoreline, Sankhumugham Shoreline)
One of the best sights in Kerala awaits today by the seaside as we continue with our one-week tour to Kerala. We will drive to Kovalam where you will be staying in the amazing resort booked for you.
Before that, we visit the Varkala and Sankhumugham Shorelines – gorgeous seaside beaches with beautiful cliffs and views.
Kovalam – Alleppey
(Backwater and houseboat)
From the beachside, today we go to the Venice of the East at Alleppey where you will check in at your luxury houseboat to really embark on your backwater tour. You will be visiting the canals by cruising in the houseboat, one of the delights of Kerala!
We have also prepared a delicious meal for you to be cooked on board. Spend the night on the water.
Alleppey – Thekkady
(Periyar Lake, Wildlife Sanctuary)
After breakfast, you will leave the houseboat and your driver will take you to Thekkady / Periyar – India’s most interesting wildlife sanctuary.
Arrive at Thekkady, check in to your hotel and then we will visit the untamed life haven that is Periyar Lake. Return to Thekkady for a relaxing evening.
Thekkady – Munnar
(Anamudi Peak, Devikulam, Mattupetty Dam)
Today we will be driving to Munnar to experience the hill station tour and, on the way, go up to Anamudi Peak, the highest mountain in the Western Ghats at 2,695 m altitude. The name means “elephant’s forehead” and you will see the resemblance!
Also on our way, we will stop at the small hill station of Devikulam where the legend says that the goddess Sita Devi of the Ramayana epic bathed in the lake waters. Devikulam lake is rumoured to have restorative powers due to its mineral water content.
Afterwards, we will stop off at the Mattupetty Dam so you can admire this massive hydroelectric power project, before checking in to your hotel at Munnar.
(Nyayamakad Waterfalls, Reverberation Point, Chinnakanal, Rajamala Hills)
Also around Munnar, we will visit some other special sights such as the Nyayamakad Waterfalls, Reverberation Point, Power House (Chinnakanal) Waterfalls, Rajamala Hills, and Malankara Reservoir. Bask in the natural beauty on offer, and then we will drive you back to Munnar for another overnight stay at the hotel.
Munnar – Kochi
(Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese fishing nets, Cherai Beach)
We arrive in Kochi / Cochin, the final destination of your one-week tour to Kerala with us.
Cochin is a melting pot of cultures and here we will visit the wonderful Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, the Jewish Synagogue, the Chinese fishing nets and the Portuguese church of St Francis. As you can see, several influences have built upon Kochi’s ancient heritage and there is so much to do and see here.
Enjoy your afternoon at Cherai Beach on the outskirts of Kochi and you might even see a dolphin here if you’re lucky. Then return to Cochin and relax at the hotel.
This is your last day and we will drive you to the airport for your onward journey. We hope you have enjoyed your backwater and houseboat tour and to see you again soon!
